Where is the Convergence Bill?
The initial furore surrounding the publication of the Draft Convergence Bill has dissipated and we have received queries as to the future of what many regard as being a vital piece of legislation for our ICT sector.
In her recent Budget Speech the Minister of Communications inidicated that the 65 submissions received in response to the Draft Bill have been analysed and that the necessary redrafting work has been completed. The redrafted Bill is expected to be presented to Cabinet in the very near future and the Department expects that it will go before Parliament in the last quarter of 2004.
