New SA Government portal goes online

The South African Government recently launched its new e-government portal which it hopes will facilitate service delivery, public participation and enhanced governance through technology.

The site, currently in phase 1 of its development, offers limited functionality and focuses on providing better and more accessible information on government services. It is expected that phase 2 of the roll-out of the site will see the development of some transactional services.

Visit the site at www.services.gov.za.

Other useful government sites include:

www.gov.za. – the primary online source for government information, including legislation, speeches, policy documents and happenings

www.cipro.gov.za. - the site of the Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office offers information on close corporations and companies and allows annual returns and other documents to be submitted online

www.dti.gov.za.– the Department of Trade and Industry site offers information on doing business in South Africa and has a section on consumer protection

If there are any other government sites which you find helpful please post them here.
